Every little helps to cut carbon emissions
Wordsmith, Jill Hairsine, wins £150 energy efficient prize after entering wordsearch competition

Lichfield District Council and Tesco were delighted to present Jill Hairsine with a £150 voucher, to spend on any energy efficient electrical products from Tesco, on Friday 4 March 2011.

The Burntwood local won the prize after entering Lichfield District Council’s Warmer Homes, Greener District competition, which featured in the winter edition of its residents’ magazine – intouch. Lichfield District Council and Tesco Prize Presentation

The council ran the competition to promote its energy initiative, Warmer Homes, Greener District. This is the initiative that offers funding to help residents insulate their homes.

Councillor Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Environmental Protection, said: “We had 175 wordsearch entries in, and so a big well done to Jill for winning the prize.

“I would like to thank Tesco for kindly sponsoring the competition. The generous £150 voucher for energy efficient electrical products is a very fitting prize, as Warmer Homes, Greener District is all about how we can help our residents to cut their fuel bills and carbon emissions.”

Laura Critchley, None Food Manager for Tesco, added: “We were delighted to link up with the district council for this competition. We’re committed to helping people to reduce their carbon emissions, which is why we stock a wide range or greener products. Jill chose to spend the £150 voucher on an energy efficient microwave oven, which I am sure she will find very useful.”

Lichfield District homeowners can find out if they can save 50% off the cost of installing cavity wall or loft insulation, or if they are eligible to get the work done for free, by calling 0800 512 012 or visiting www.warmandgreen.co.uk.
